The Clintcast Facebook site can be found at:
http://www.facebook.com/clintcast
If you are not familiar with Facebook, it is a free social networking website on which members can interact with each other (their network of ‘friends’) in a myriad of ways. Members maintain a ‘profile’ page from which they can share information with others based on the privacy controls they set. One primary way many members communicate with the other ‘friends’ they connect with (member initiated/approved connections) is to post status updates to their ‘wall’ which are then shared to their networks/friends/connections as dictated in the member’s privacy policy. In this way, users can share updates about their activities/etc with other members without having to email each individually. Furthermore, if the member chooses to activate a mobile phone/device on their account, Facebook can forward these status updates to your mobile device via SMS text-messaging updates. Facebook does not charge to send these messages, but your phone/device carrier plan might, so be sure to check your plan to see if you are able to send/receive SMS text-messages, and if so, their costs. Note: You do not have to have a Facebook account to view a member’s profile page (like the Clintcast page linked above), unless that user has privacy controls preventing viewing by visitors other than approved friends. However, if you wish to actively follow one or more member‚’s sites/pages in a consolidated way or receive mobile phone/device updates, you will want to set up a Facebook account.
Getting Started
How you proceed depends on whether you are Creating a New Facebook Account or Using an Account you already have.
Creating a New Facebook Account
- If you currently do not have a Facebook account, visit the Clintcast Facebook page and click the green Sign Up button, or simply visit the Facebook home page.
- Input your Full Name, your email address, a strong password, your gender and your birthdate in the fields requested and click the green Sign Up button.
- You will next need to type in the two CAPTCHA security words (this prevents computer automated account generation) and click the green Sign Up button.
- Facebook will then send a confirmation email to the address you provided. Check your email for this message (it may take a few minutes) and when it arrives, click on the confirmation link provided to verify your account creation. You should then be logged into your account.
- Facebook will next offer to help you add your friends to your new account by using email addresses you provide from your address book(s). This step can be done later (if at all), so for now, click the Skip button to continue.
- Facebook will next ask for High School, College/University, Company information to further help discover friends you may know on Facebook. You can input this now if you like, or simply click Save to continue.
- Facebook will next ask for your City/Town in order to join you to a geographic-based network. Based on your input, Facebook will make suggestions of related networks. Again, you can choose and click the Join button to join that network or you can defer this until later (if at all) by clicking the Skip button to continue.
- Congratulations - you are up and going in Facebook!
- You should now be at your home page. From here, you can go on to set up your profile, picture, privacy settings, etc. You can reference the Help link at the bottom right for documentation on using the various features of Facebook for use/customization of your site. We will leave this for you to explore further on your own.

To do this, first type in Clintcast.com in the "search" input at the top right of the page and hit Return to search for the Clintcast.com Page (a "page" in Facebook terms is different than a "Friend" in that it functions more as an artist/celebrity/business/brand page as opposed to individual personal "Friend" page).
- You should now be looking at the home page of the Clintcast.com Page. Near the top center next to the title Clintcast.com, you should see a link entitled Become a Fan. Click this link to add the Clintcast.com Facebook page to your list of followed Friends/Pages. Congratulations! You are now "following" the Clintcast.com Facebook page. If you click your Home button at the top left to return to your own page, you should now see any updates posted from the Clintcast.com Page, as well as those of any friends you add to your account, listed down the page for you to read.
- If you wish to follow Clint (or other friends’ updates) ‘offline’ on your mobile phone/device via text-messaging outside of your Facebook login session, you will now need to setup Enabling your mobile phone/devices with Facebook.
- When you are finished working with your account, click the Logout button at the top right to log off of Facebook.
Using an Account you already have

Enabling your mobile phone/devices
If you have not set up your phone/device(s) to interact with Facebook, it is a fairly simple process to do so. If you choose to receive device updates, they will begin arriving on your phone/device as they are generated by the Friends/Pages you are following. You do not need to be logged in to receive these SMS text-message updates. Again, you have control of your account and you can choose to stop phone/device updates at any time, or even discontinue following a member’s updates simply by logging into your account and adjusting your settings. While Facebook does not charge to enable text messaging, your specific mobile phone/device plan might. Again, make sure your phone/device plan covers texting and its costs before going through this process.
- If you are not logged into your account already, do so now.
- Under the Settings menu at the top right, click the Account Settings menu choice to navigate to your account settings.
- Click the grey Mobile tab to set up your device.
- Input your phone number into the text field using the format requested on the page and select the appropriate carrier for your phone in the drop-menu to allow Facebook to send updates to your phone.
- Click the Activate button.
- if the preceding step is done correctly, a confirmation code text message will be sent to your phone. When it arrives, read the code and input it into the Confimation Code text field on Facebook.
- Click the Confirm button.
- Facebook should now indicate your mobile phone activation as confirmed. Facebook will also send a "Confirmed" text to your phone including instructions for texting help.
- By default, text messages are turned off. Click the On button to enable text messages to your phone. For now, until you begin adding other friends, you can uncheck the next 5 boxes (Pokes, Messages, etc).
- In the text field titled "Whose status updates should go to my phone?", input Clintcast.com and hit Return to have updates from the Clintcast.com Facebook Page sent to your phone/device.
- Next, you can edit the settings below this for appropriate hours for receiving text messages, frequency of messages and confirmation messages. Alter as appropriate for your preferences and click the Save Preferences button at the bottom to accept your settings.
- If this has been done correctly, you should now be receiving text messages to your phone from Facebook! You can return to these settings at any time to alter your preferences.
